Another Simple Sympathy

I like making simple sympathy cards because that just seems to be what's called for. This is the second card we made in the Create-A-Bunch Club in February to offset the more elaborate wine card. Unfortunately, I needed to use this card right away when my boss lost his mother.

All of the components of this card use The Angel Company products. The paper on the left border is from the Maggie paper collection, the leaves on the lower right are from the Deco Designs stamp set, stamped in Versa Magic Aloe Vera ink and the sentiment is from Savvy Sayings.

Natural Hope Sympathy Card

This is another card I made using leftover scraps of Maggie paper. The background is embossed with the Paisley Spellbinders Impressabilities embossing template. The stamp sets are The Angel Company's retired Natural Hope set inked with VersaMagic Pink Petunia ink, and the sentiment is stamped in Palette Charcoal ink with words from the current With Sympathy set.

Simple Sympathy

I ran out of sympathy cards for my bin at work, so I made this one up quickly to replenish. The butterfly is from Taylored Expressions Discover Your Wings stamp set, and was stamped and stamped-off in Tim Holtz Victorian Velvet Distress Ink. The sentiment is from The Angel Company's With Sympathy stamp set, and was cut out using Nestabilities Labels Nine.

Another Sympathy Card Inspired My Card in the New Catalogue

Well, the Expo is over and I'm headed off to the cottage with the Diamond Island Angels. I should have some awesome new projects to share with you when I get back. But until then, I thought I'd share my final sympathy card (hopefully for a while).

This card was one I made last year, but never posted. It's made with paper from the Angelee collection, and uses the Butterfly Bits stamp set and the With Sympathy set.

This card actually inspired the one I made for The Angel Company and sent in during the catalogue call. My second card uses the Catelynne paper collection and was actually streamlined from the original - making it a simpler card to make, but with the same effect. TAC chose it to represent the Catelynne collection and featured it on Page 59 of the current base book catalogue. I'm super proud of this card! It's a great honor to be featured three catalogues in a row.

More Sympathy

In follow-up to my last post, this is the other card desgin I worked on. It also uses the S.e.i. "Chocolate" collection, my Spellbinders Nestabilities and the Cuttlebug Butterfly die cut and matching embossing template. The sentiment is another one from With Sympathy and the swirl behind it is from Curls and Swirls.

With Sympathy

August has been a bad month. My Grandfather passed away on the first after many years of suffering from Alzheimer's, our computer got a virus and was down for a week, then I had an Expo to get ready for (not really a bad thing, but something that kept me from playing) and then I got bronchitis and a "very nasty sinus infection" that kept me in bed for a week. I figure it's always a bad thing when your doctor says "eeew". I'm back on my feet again with a computer that works, so now it's time to catch up. I've got several posts lined up for the next couple of weeks.

First up. I'll never say there's no such thing as a 6th sense. I've seen it working numerous times. Mostly when I was young and my Mother would suddenly show up some place I wasn't supposed to be, and I'd end up grounded for a week. After that happens a few times, you stop misbehaving. My most recent encounter was in connection with my Grandfather. The night before and the morning that he passed, I was making cards. I started out just putting papers together with no idea what they were ultimately going to be for and they lent themselves to sympathy cards. I figured I'd sell them at The Art House, but then I got the call and ended up needing them myself. I gave my favorite one to my Grandma and didn't get a picutre of it. That's O.K. though. It'll be one of a kind, becasue I'll never remember it well enough to make it again.

This is the first of the designs I had for long enough to take a picture.

I made this card using S.E.I.'s "Chocolate" collection and some old pink cardstock I had laying around. The pink background is embossed with the Cuttlebug "Birds and Swilrs" embossing folder. The sentiment is from The Angel Company's With Sympathy set. I love the butterflies and the colors.

Fall cards

A few months ago, the Poetic Artistry Blog posted a one sheet wonder, with some cards that I thought were classically simple. I stored them in the back of my mind for a while, and when I had a chance to play today, I went and looked the post up. These are cards that I made using the same one sheet wonder (although I ended up removing the .75" x .75" square on Card #2 when I changed the orientation due to the verse I picked). It's amazing how different the exact same template can look with different color choices.
