Rock Star Card for Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to all the wonderful Dad's out there.

This is another masculine card that we created during the Create-A-Bunch club this month. This card uses strips of paper from The Angel Company's Just Like Dad paper collection surrounded by various sized stars cut with the Cricut. Both of the solid green stars are scored and popped up for some dimension and interest. The sentiment is from Taylored Expressions My Hero stamp set.

Best Dad

This is a card I made for the Taylored Expressions sketch challenge this week.

My card uses The Angel Company's Just Like Dad paper collection, and Taylored Expression's Boys Will Be Boys stamp set.

Father's Day Camping Card

This is a card I made using my Camping stamp set from The Angel Company (paired with Taylored Expressions' Boys Will Be Boys stamp set for the #1 Dad sentiment). I've had the Camping set for a while, but I could never figure out what I wanted to do with it. Finally, I decided to use it for my Ohio Gathering swap (before I found out that it was supposed to be an ATC). So this is my first attempt with this set. Nothing fancy, just solid papers, Burnt Umber and Jardin Moss Palette Ink and Walnut Distress Stickles, but I thought it turned out nice. And I know a guy that it would be perfect for.

Mr. Happy Camper doesn't read my blog, I'm sure, but some blog followers should know who I'm talking about.

Watercolor Ship Collage

This card is also one that we created in the watercolor class a while back ago. For this one, we colored the background paper with shades of blue watercolor crayons and blended with the water brush. Then we stamped the image using The Angel Company's soon-to-be retired Ship Collage stamp (one of my favorites for masculine cards) and colored the image with watercolor pencils blended with the water brush. The sentiment comes from the Trendy Greetings stamp set.

Of all the cards we did in the class, this is the one that took the longest because of all the detail in the stamped image, but it is so much more spectacular when you color it.

Father's Day Inkspiration

In April and May I was up to my elbows in preparing for and participating in the Milwaukee Rubber Stamp and Scrapbook Expo. We had a wonderful time in the booth and met lots of very nice people.

One of the things that was different for me at this Expo was that I got to demonstrate. For our first time demonstrating in the booth, I chose to use one of my very favorite products, Perfect Pearls. Perfect Pearls are a resin-based mica powder and are extremely versitile. Before the show, I created a sample board of approximately 10 cards that used Perfect Pearls in different waya. Then, I spent the day showing other people how to use them, and I had a blast. Both days flew by.

One of the cards I made for the Expo was this Father's Day card using The Angel Company's Ship Collage stamp, and one of the Tim Holtz mini masks (the Compass) that came out at CHA in January. I mixed Perfect Pearls and reinkers in water, and lightly sprayed over the mask. This card has some wonderful shimmer to it in the background, that is accented by the bronze metallic paper.

This card is listed on my Shophandmade.com store.

Father's Day Cards

Wow, things have been busy! I got commissioned to make several cards this week, some Father's Day cards, a sympathy card and a 20 page scrapbook/comment book for people at work to sign for someone's going away party. I've also had my hands full getting all of my trades done for seminar, but things are finally starting to come together and I have time to post the Father's Day cards that I started over the weekend. All of them use the Just Like Dad paper from The Angel Company and the Trendy Greetings stamp set.

Once I started making the card for Taylor's cupcake challenge, I just kept going so that I could use up all the pieces of paper I'd started. Here are the cards. I hope they give you some ideas for Father's Day.

Cup Cake Challenge - Father's Day Card

Taylor's Cup Cake Challenges have become very addicting for me. If you haven't been following my blog, about two months ago, I started reading Taylor VanBruggen's Taylored Expressions blog. Every Friday she has what she calls a "Cup Cake Challenge" where she posts a card sketch and people participate by making a card using that sketch and posting it to their blogs. Then they leave Taylor a comment on her blog with a link to their entry.

Here's the Father's Day card I made using Taylor's sketch. It used The Angel Company's Just Like Dad paper and the Trendy Greetings Stamp set.

I had also seen some advice from another blogger that recommended that once you have a piece of paper out, you should use the whole thing so that you cut down on your scraps. It's a little more challenging, but it's also kind of nice. The paper is already out, and you can create something to store for later, instead of having to make it at the time you need it (which is the habbit I've fallen into recently). Plus, there are no scraps to store when you're finished. So, with that in mind, I also created some other Father's Day cards using the Just Like Dad paper and I'll be posting them later.

Sneek Peek..... and my new fav. paper

I've been working on cards and scrapbook pages to display at the Tinley Park Rubber Stamp and Scrapbook Expo next weekend, and I've found my new favorite paper (for the moment). Here's a peek at some of the samples that I'll display on my board.

This paper seemed very natural to me. Every single card, scrapbook page and tag I made was something I loved. None of those "filler" creations that you sometimes use just because you need to have a certain number.

Besides turning out beautiful and coordinated projects, this paper has a masculine feel. I got some of the best cards to give to husbands, fathers, sons and other men from this paper. Cards for men are sometimes very difficult for me, but not this time around. I'm so happy!

If you're in the Chicago area and want to check out more Winchester samples I made, and meet some angels from The Angel Company, stop by the Expo and visit. For information on the show click here http://www.rubberstampexpo.com/ilinfo.html
