50th Anniversary

Last week my husband and I were lucky enough to attend his Aunt and Uncle's 50th Anniversary. It's such an inspiration to see couples that have been together for 50 years and have weathered the bad patches and celebrate the good. We had a great time. This is the card I made for them.

This card uses off-white linen paper embossed with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder with Encore Gold Ink brushed around the edges. The medallion is from the Cricuit Damask Decor cartridge laid on a background of gold paper and stamped and heat embossed with a gold 50. There is a further band of off-white linen cut with a large Martha Stewart border punch wrapped with a shear gold ribbon.

Quick Thank You

While in the process of moving, my friend Sue's husband, Mike Vanderwalker, did us the favor of reading and explaining our survey to us. Mike has been a surveyor for years, and pointed out some things that we should address before the move so as not to cause problems later on. To show our appreciation, I made this card for him to go with a little gift card that we picked up.

Since we're in the middle of moving, I was limited to supplies and came up with this quick card using The Angel Company's Aged Ornaments stamp set to make all of the pattern in the card. Then I added some Christmas Red Stickles as accents with a little red ribbon, and a small sentiment panel using the Thinking of You set and a small scrap of red paper.

Father's Day Camping Card

This is a card I made using my Camping stamp set from The Angel Company (paired with Taylored Expressions' Boys Will Be Boys stamp set for the #1 Dad sentiment). I've had the Camping set for a while, but I could never figure out what I wanted to do with it. Finally, I decided to use it for my Ohio Gathering swap (before I found out that it was supposed to be an ATC). So this is my first attempt with this set. Nothing fancy, just solid papers, Burnt Umber and Jardin Moss Palette Ink and Walnut Distress Stickles, but I thought it turned out nice. And I know a guy that it would be perfect for.

Mr. Happy Camper doesn't read my blog, I'm sure, but some blog followers should know who I'm talking about.

Family, Food and Friends - Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Here's a little card I made for the occasion that uses The Angel Company's Reece paper collection, the retired Family, Food and Friends set, the Give Thanks set and a ton of punches and Stickles.

Mom loved this card so much, she made a bunch of them for her friends, but she turned the card candy (graduated punch) section into a magnet that could be removed from the card and used on the fridge.

A More Masculine Birthday Card

After spending a bunch of time making birthday cards for my girlfriend at work, I realized that most of the birthday cards I create have a more feminine appeal, so I worked hard to come up with one that was more masculine or at least neutral gender.

This birthday card was made using TACs Reece paper collection and matching ribbon. I mimicked the circular pattern with the Swiss Dots Cuttlebug embossing folder for the larger background and the Spots and Dots Cuttlebug embossing folder behind the stamped image which came from Birthday Wishes.

Leaving for Seminar

Today I am getting ready to leave for The Angel Company's Seminar. I'm looking forward to seeing old friends, and sharing their awesome personalities, wisdom and talent. One of the things we do at Seminar is trade card fronts, scrapbook pages and what are considered "special trades" which are usually things like pins or other small projects. We trade with each other in general, and the Managers, Executives and Directors (Club MED) have a special luncheon where they trade different items with just each other. This one will be a little bitter sweet for me because The Angel Company's new compensation plan will be launched during the next catalogue year, and Mischelle announced that this will be the last Club MED luncheon.

My general trade is a variation on the Perfect Pearls Father's Day Ship Collage card I posted earlier in the month, so no need to post that again. My Club MED trade will be a variation on the card candy we have been giving hands-on tutorials on at the Expos this past year. Mine is the magnet I created for the show we just did in Milwaukee. I made them up in three different colors, using the True Beauty stamp set from Serendipity, inking the edges with sponges and coloring with Copic markers. The layers are embellished with various colors of Stickles and the pieces are stacked using foam tape.

Can't you just see these butterflies gracing your fridge? With just a few paper punches and scraps, they're super simple to make.

Card Candy

I know I've talked about Card Candy before, but I don't think I've ever posted any pictures. Card candy is something that Rita introduced to us at Diamond Island this summer and it's addicting. Basically, card candy is anything made from layering various punched out paper layers, some raised with pop-dots, accented with stamped and colored images and Stickles.

We used card candy as our make and take at the St. Charles Scrapbook Expo, and it was such a hit that we'll be using different designs for our make and take at the Rubber Stamp and Scrapbook Expo next weekend. We'll also have some stamp sets available at the Rubber Stamp and Scrapbook Expo that lend themselves really well to making Card Candy: Christmas Circles, Sweet Goodies, Christmas Minis, Wee Ones and Food Family & Friends. And if you buy and of these sets at the show, you have the choice of purchasing an add-on pack that comes with two bottles of Stickles, kits to make two different card candy images using the stamps, plus a photo for reference. There is a different add-on pack for each stamp set. Here is a sample of one of the card candies that will be available with the Christmas Circles add-on pack (it was one of our most popular from the last show).

Card candy can be used for all sorts of things, images on cards, embellishments on scrapbook pages, decorations on gift wrapped packages, or tags. Here's a card I made using our Angelee paper and the card candy principle.

Last weekend I went to Target and found some Mickey Mouse Ears silhouette punches in different sizes. I used them to make these card candies with magnets on the back for my sister to decorate her metal door with when she goes on her Disney cruise in a few weeks. They're a little blurry because my camera couldn't focus on the detail well enough, but my scanner was putting too much shadow around them because of the pop-dotted layers. Hopefully you get the idea.

Hopefully these will give you some ideas.
